Dark spots are among the skin’s worst nightmares. They pop up anywhere on your face and can come from sun exposure or even dried up acne. While there are lots of products that can help lighten your dark spots, these pesky spots usually respond to same ingredients.

BB Cream: The Blemish Balm Asians Love

TheFaceShop BB Cream
BB Cream is a skin care product that originated in Germany but became so popular in Asia, especially in Korea. BB Cream or Blemish Balm cream is a make up primer/tinted moisturizer that promises not only just evening out skin tone but also helps prevent acne, whiten skin and reverse ageing. BB creams come in different brands. TheFaceShop, Missha, Skin Food, L'egere White, and Beauty Credit are some of the popular brands of BB or Blemish Balm creams. All BB creams come with sunblock, and the BB cream with the lowest SPF content (I guess) is TheFaceShop's with SPF20. Some BB creams come in light shades and some in medium/dark shades. According to reviews that I've read, BB cream is not for those with very sensitive skin. Just choose the brand of BB (Blemish Balm) cream that is perfect for you. I know there is one BB cream product out there that you will be very happy to use!!!

ViveSana Solar to Polar Organic Sunscreens

Vive Sana, live healthy in Italian, really wants us to live healthy by making these gorgeous sunscreen products! ViveSana Solar to Polar Ultra and ViveSana Solar to Polar Baby are organically made mineral sunscreens. It's sun protection comes from alumnia--- the most inert form of aluminum. It is then coated with plant-based stearic acid to render it even further benign, the alumina is designed to sit at the skin's surface to deflect any headlong solar onslaught, rather than seep into your body. Vive Sana Solar to Polar Organic Sunscreen products don't contain parabens, phthalates, fillers, thickeners, emulsifiers, or synthetic chemicals like oxybenzone. Vive Sana Solar to Polar Ultra has SPF40 while Solar to Polar Baby has SPF42 and is hypoallergenic.

Best Sunblock Products for Men

Even men need skin protection. Being a male does not mean that you are protected against sun's harmful rays. Just like women, men should apply sunblocks or sunscreens. Here is a list of sunblocks/sunscreens made especially for men:

sunblocks sunscreens for men

MenScience TiO2 Sunblock SPF30- an ultra-lightweight moisturizing sunblock lotion. It is suitable for everyday use because it is non-greasy.

Jack Black Oil-Free Sun Guard with SPF 20- perfect for active men because it is oil-free and won't leave you feeling sticky even after a game or active sports. Can also be used on scalp.

Zirh Defend with SPF 15-it's from Shiseido, so you know that you are really getting a high-quality sunblock moisturizer.

DDF Organic Sunblock with SPF 30- this sunblock facial lotion is recommended for sensitive skin. It is organic and contains anti-oxidants to help minimize damage caused by previous sun exposures.

MD Skincare 60 Sun Pads with SPF 30- this sunblock comes in individual application pads that you just wipe on your face. This is also suitable for sensitive and irritated skin.

Peter Thomas Roth Oil-Free Sunblock SPF 30-It is also fragrance free, PABA free, non-comedogenic. Although it gives SPF 30, it allows a bit of tanning for that very manly look.

Please don't go outdoors without any of these sunblocks on. UV rays from sun are really, really harmful and can make you look older than your age.

Nivea Body UV Protection Lotion Gave Me Skin Bumps!!!

'Hey. What's this?' I asked myself yesterday morning. I can feel something on my skin that were not here a week ago. My skin feels bumpy, like I have chicken skin all over! Of course I was alarmed! I haven't suffered any of these skin problems before, not until I used Nivea Body UV Protection Lotion. I purchased this a month ago but just started using it regularly last week, while on vacation. I doubt if I'm allergic with sunblocks because I use Myra E Sun Protect Face Moisturizer. Maybe I'm just sensitive to a certain ingredient Nivea Body has. I'll stop using it now. I hope my rashes or skin bumps or whatever you call it fade away. I hate my skin now. It's so rough and I used to have fairly smooth skin. Ugh. I'll update you later.

The Sunblock/Sunscreen Talk: SPF

SPF or Sun Protection Factor is the rating used for sunblocks or sunscreens. Note that the SPF refers only to the Sun Protection Factor versus UVB rays only. Sun Protection Factor are normally between 1 to 60, but some products have higher SPF than 60. A sunscreen with a SPF 15 will delay sunburn from occurring for 15 times (in minutes) longer than normal if using no protection at all. Say, you burn after 30 minutes of sun exposure without any protection, then if you wear SPF 15, you'll burn after 450 minutes of sun exposure. So, the higher the SPF, the more time you can spend it under the sun without burning. Just don't forget to re-apply regularly.

What's the difference between sunblock and sunscreen?

I didn't know they differ, until I did a research about sunblocks. So, what is the difference between sunblock and sunscreen?

Sunscreens actually 'absorb' UV rays, reducing the amount of radiation absorbed by skin. When sunscreens first came into the market, they only absorb the "burn rays" or the UVB. But now sunscreens absorb both UVB and UVA (the aging rays) radiations. On the other hand, a sunblock physically form a barrier by using titanium oxide or zinc oxide. Sunblocks were known to leave white streaks on the skin but it is better in blocking out both burn (UVB) and aging (UVA) rays.

Myra E Daily Sun Protect

Myra E Daily Sun Protect Facial Moisturizer was released by Unilab just recently. I guess it was in the market for about a month or less. I bought my 50 ml tube this morning at Mercury Drug for P82.25. I’ve been looking for a very affordable moisturizer specifically with SPF because I’m now having my face treated with Kojic Acid. Well, Myra E Daily Sun Protect seems to be able to protect me from UVA and UVB rays, but it has only Sun Protection Factor of 15. SPF 15 is the minimum requirement for sun protection. Myra E Daily Sun Protect uses a “physical” sun block, which is Zinc Oxide. It also has vitamin E, the Myra E line main ingredient. I’ll just cross my fingers and hope that this product won’t leave my face white (or silver).Update next week.
