How to Whiten Dark Elbows and Knees

Have you noticed your elbows and knees being at least three shade darker than your skin? That is because the skin on your elbows and knees are generally dryer and rougher, which make them prone to darkening. Thousands of women (and men, too!) suffer from this. Here are some pointers to avoid and treat dark elbows and knees.

How to prevent this?
You can prevent your elbows and knees from darkening by rigorous moisturizing. Keep these areas well-moisturized. Normally, a simple body lotion will suffice, but for cases with very dry and rough skin, thick moisturizing creams can be used. I would recommend Venus and Mars Bare It All Cream for this. Make sure to clean the area well before applying moisturizers.

Whitening Treatment for Knees and Elbows
If you already have dark elbows or knees, you may try these following procedures:

  • Use a whitening lotion and apply it on the affected areas. This will take long but I'm sure you will see results in a month's time.
  • You may apply skin bleaching agents such as white henna with peroxide, or commercially available whitening body scrubs such as the Calamansi Scrub from HBC.
  • After bathing, rub elbows and knees with sliced lemon or calamansi, vitamin C is said to have very effective results in skin whitening.
  • Try using turmeric and lemon whitening paste on the affected areas. Turmeric and lemon are a great combination when it comes to skin whitening.
