What is Hydroquinone? 
Hydroquinone is a chemical found naturally on berries/fruits, wheat, tea and coffee. It is also known as HQ, 4 dihydroxybenzene, 1,4-benzenediol and p-diphenol. Hydroquinone has a variety of uses. It can be found on some whitening creams, soap, and astringents as well as herbicides, rubber antioxidants and dyestuff.


What is Hydroquinone for?
In skin care, Hydroquinone is mainly used as a skin lightener and exfoliant. An exfoliant is a substance applied on the skin to shed its outer layer.

Does Hydroquinone has side effects?
Yes. All chemicals and drugs have side effects. One of the side effects of hydroquinone is skin-discoloration due to excessive sun exposure while undergoing hydroquinone treatment. Hydroquinone is presently being tested for carcinogens.


How to use Hydroquinone?
Even though hydroquinone is being sold openly here in the country, you must first consider consulting your dermatologist before using hydroquinone.
